Stress-free alignment of exhaust system > < Disconnecting centre silencer and rear silencer - vehicles with four-wheel drive
Removing and installing front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter
Removing and installing front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter
   
Removing
–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Remove air ducts -1- and -2-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -1- at air mass meter -G70-.
–  Loosen hose clip -2- to remove air intake hose.
–  Move clear wiring harness at air cleaner housing and remove air cleaner housing -arrow-.

–  Unscrew securing bolts for turbocharger/catalytic converter -arrows-.

–  Release quick-release fasteners -2- and -3- and detach rear section of noise insulation.

  A10-1320
To avoid damage, the flexible joints in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°.
–  Loosen nuts on clamp -arrows-.
–  Push the clamp back in order to separate the exhaust system.
–  Detach front exhaust pipe with catalytic converter.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts.
–  Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter.
Tightening torques
  V26-0733
