Removing and installing front exhaust pipe with main catalytic converter

Removing –  Remove front left wheel. –  On vehicles with auxiliary/additional heater, remove bolts -arrows- securing exhaust pipe for auxiliary/additional heater to noise insulation.

–  Release fasteners -1 … 3- and take off front and rear noise insulation.

–  Remove noise insulation -1- in wheel housing (left-side).

–  Unbolt heat shield -arrows- for drive shaft (left-side) -1-.

–  Unbolt front exhaust pipe from starter catalytic converter -1-.

–  Unscrew bolt -arrow- at bracket for front exhaust pipe.   Note Illustration shows vehicle with manual gearbox.   Note

To avoid any damage, the flexible joint in the front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°. –  Loosen clamps on exhaust system -arrows- and disconnect exhaust pipes. –  Detach front exhaust pipe with main catalytic converter. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note Renew gaskets and self-locking nuts. –  Align exhaust system so it is free of stress → Chapter. Tightening torques

1)  Renew nuts.
