Stress-free alignment of exhaust system
l  The exhaust system must be aligned when it is cool.
   
Vehicles without clamps between centre silencer and rear silencer
–  Loosen bolt connections of front clamp(s) → Item.
–  Push exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until mountings for centre silencer are preloaded by -a- = 5 ... 9 mm.
–  Tighten bolts for front clamp(s) → Item evenly to 23 Nm (M8) or 40 Nm (M10).

Vehicles with clamps between centre silencer and rear silencer
  Note
On vehicles with clamps fitted between centre silencer and rear silencer, it is also necessary to align the centre silencer.
–  Loosen bolts on front clamp(s) → Item and rear clamps → Item.
–  Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that mountings for centre silencer are preloaded by -a- = 5 ... 9 mm.
–  Tighten bolts for front clamp(s) → Item evenly to 23 Nm (M8) or 40 Nm (M10).

–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until rear mounting for rear silencer is preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 11 mm.
–  Align rear silencer horizontally.
–  Tighten bolts for rear clamps → Item evenly to 23 Nm (M8) or 40 Nm (M10).
