Removing
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth cable at battery → Chapter.
–  Remove engine cover -arrows-.
  A10-0113
–  Detach cover (right-side) -1- in engine compartment.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows-.
–  Detach activated charcoal filter solenoid valve 1 -N80--item 1- at air duct.
–  Remove air duct -2-.

–  Pull off hose -arrow- from connecting pipe for secondary air.

Before removing, mark running direction of poly V-belt with chalk or felt-tipped pen. If the belt runs in the wrong direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage.
–  To slacken poly V-belt, turn tensioner in direction of -arrow- using 17 mm ring spanner.
–  Lock tensioner by inserting locking pin -T10060 A- into locating holes -arrows-.
–  Take off poly V-belt.

–  On vehicles with auxiliary heater, unscrew bolts -arrows- for exhaust pipe of auxiliary/supplementary heater at noise insulation.

–  Unfasten bolts/quick release fasteners -1- and -2- and detach noise insulation (front).

–  Cut through cable ties -arrows-, open bracket for starter wire and take out wire.
–  Unbolt bracket.

Vehicles with automatic gearbox:
–  Unscrew nuts -1- and -2- and remove bracket for ATF lines.
All models:
–  Unclip refrigerant line from bracket at sump.
–  Detach electrical wires at alternator.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and detach alternator.

Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Make sure poly V-belt is properly positioned and correctly routed.
1 - Alternator
2 - Poly V-belt
3 - Power steering pump
4 - Air conditioner compressor
5 - Crankshaft
6 - Tensioning roller
–  Connect the battery. Additional steps required → Anchor.
–  Start engine and check that belt runs properly.
