Removing and installing connector point in plenum chamber electronics box Removing –  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth wire at battery: t  Battery in engine compartment → Chapter t  Battery in luggage compartment → Chapter –  Remove driver's storage compartment → Rep. Gr.68. –  Unscrew electrical wire at bottom of connector point in plenum chamber electronics box.

–  Detach rubber seal of plenum chamber cover in direction of -arrow-. –  Remove plenum chamber cover -1- to front.

–  Remove wiper arms -2- and -items 3 and 4- → Chapter.   Caution To stop the cowl panel grille -5- being torn on removal, apply a small quantity of soap solution to the transition between the windscreen and cowl panel grille and pull the cowl panel grille vertically upwards out of the fastening strip, starting at the edge of the windscreen. –  Pull off retaining clips -1- and detach cowl panel grille -5-.

–  Remove cover for electronics box in plenum chamber -arrows-.

–  Use screwdriver to pry off retaining strap -arrows-. –  Lay aside engine control unit with wires attached. –  Release retaining clip for gearbox control unit. –  Lay aside gearbox control unit with wires attached. –  Unplug electrical connectors at rear of connector console.

Vehicles up to 10.2004: –  Unscrew electrical wire -2-. –  Unscrew bolts -1- and -3-. –  Unclip appropriate socket.   Note Exact assignment of connector point in plenum chamber electronics box can be found in appropriate current flow diagram → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations.

Vehicles as of 11.2004: –  Unscrew electrical wire -3-. –  Unscrew bolts -2- and -4-. –  Unclip appropriate socket -1-.   Note Exact assignment of connector point in plenum chamber electronics box can be found in appropriate current flow diagram → Current flow diagrams, Electrical fault finding and Fitting locations. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: –  Connect the battery. Action to be taken: t  Battery in engine compartment → Anchor t  Battery in luggage compartment → Anchor Tightening torques
