Removing and installing bumper cover (rear) Removing

–  Remove tail light → Rep. gr.94. –  If fitted, unplug electrical connector -1- at parking aid control unit -J446-. –  Move clear electrical wiring harness at control unit bracket -arrow- by cutting cable tie -2-. –  Push grommet -3- through to the outside.

–  Unscrew nut -3- from cover stud -1-.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- on bottom section of bumper cover.

Pin for guide –  Before bumper cover can be detached towards rear, pin -1- must be pulled upwards out of guide -3- (left and right). –  When installing, hinge -2- on top guide must be folded forwards -arrow- before inserting pin. –  Unscrew bolts (left and right) -1- from front of bumper.

–  Release locking mechanism for bumper cover by pulling pin -3- upwards out of top guide. –  Detach bumper cover from side panel (left and right) -arrow-. –  Detach bumper cover -2-. When doing so, the electrical wiring harness for the parking aid senders must be routed out by the body opening. Installing l  Tightening torques → Chapter l  Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

–  When installing, side fasteners of guide -2- must engage fully in bumper cover -1- –  Fold top guide hinge forwards and insert pin → Fig.. –  If applicable, connect electrical connector for parking aid control unit -J446- → Rep. gr.94. –  Install tail light → Rep. gr.94.
