Removing and installing bumper cover (rear) > < Exploded view - bumper cover (rear)

  Note
t  Only features which are different from the standard bumper are described.
t  The procedure for removing and installing the bumper cover is the same as for standard bumpers.
   
1 - Spoiler
q   Before spoiler can be removed, two fasteners (left and right) must be pulled out → Anchor (contrary to procedure for standard bumpers).
q   Bumper cover removed
–  Gradually release retaining hooks for cover all around and pull spoiler off cover towards rear.
–  When installing, make sure retaining clips engage fully in cover.
2 - Bumper cover
When re-installing the "old" bumper cover, the "old" support piece -7- can remain installed.
–  When renewing the bumper cover, a new support piece → Fig. must be installed.
q   Removal procedure is similar to removal of spoiler.

q   2.5 Nm

7 - Support piece
  Note
The support piece only has to be installed if you are fitting a new bumper cover.
q   Releasing → Fig.
8 - Skid plate
q   Bumper cover removed
q   Unscrew bolts -6- and -9- and detach skid plate towards rear.
9 - Bolt
q   1.5 Nm

Releasing fastener
   
–  Press locking pin -3- through fastener on spoiler -2- to release top fastener (on both sides).
–  Pull fastener out of spoiler -2- and bumper cover -1-.
–  When installing, lock fastener again with locking pin.
Releasing retaining hooks
  A63-10401
–  To remove cover -1- or spoiler -5-, release retaining hooks (also those underneath end plate -2-) and pull hooks off by compressing them.
–  To remove skid plate -2-, unscrew bolts -3-, release retaining hooks -arrows- and pull skid plate towards rear off spoiler.

Installing support piece
  Note
The support piece only has to be installed if you are fitting a new bumper cover.
–  To remove, press catch -arrow- to side and detach support piece downwards out of cover -1-.
–  Fit support piece -2- in cover as shown and make sure it engages.
–  Do not remove retaining tab until you have completed installation of cover.

Releasing support piece
  WARNING
Never release support piece following removal, as this could cause injury.
When re-installing the "old" bumper cover, the "old" support piece can remain installed.
–  If bumper cover is replaced, new support piece must be clipped into bumper cover from underneath.
–  Once you have completed installation of the bumper cover, release support piece by pulling retaining tab -arrow-.
  Note
Pulling the release tab releases the support piece, so that it then supports the bumper cover against the cross member.
