Removing and installing window slot trim strip (rear)
Removing and installing window slot trim strip (rear)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Removal tool -T40219- (3x)
Removing
–  Move door window to „open“ position.
–  Door trim removed → Rep. gr.70
–  C-pillar trim removed

–  Before window slot trim strip -1- can be detached, it must first be released from retaining hooks -arrows- on door.
  A58-10189
–  Insert first removal tool -T40219- between door window and window slot trim strip at C-pillar trim.
–  Move first removal tool -T40219- forwards and to the side until distance corresponds to »dimension a«.
–  Pull first removal tool -T40219- upwards and simultaneously insert it in window slot trim strip.
  Note
Marking on removal tool -T40219- must be flush with top edge of window slot trim strip.
–  Insert second removal tool -T40219- between door window and window slot trim strip at C-pillar trim.
–  Move second removal tool -T40219- to the side until distance corresponds to »dimension b« and insert it from below.
–  Fit third removal tool -T40219- in C-pillar trim, move it to the side until distance corresponds to »dimension c« and insert it.
1)  The dimensions are measured at the window slot trim strip starting at the B-pillar.
l  Dimension a = 240 … 275 mm.
l  Dimension b = 425 … 460 mm.
l  Dimension c = 605 … 640 mm.
  A58-10188
–  Press removal tool -T40219- slightly outwards and release window slot trim strip.
  A57-10518
–  Gradually release entire window slot trim trip; only then should it be lifted off door flange.
Installing
  WARNING
The retaining hooks on the outer door panel must not be bent open and must make contact with the door window; if necessary, bend them back into their original shape.
l  Starting at B-pillar, press outer window slot trim strip by hand completely into retaining hooks on door.
