Removing and installing seat heating element
Removing and installing seat heating element
Removing
–  Remove seat bench cover and padding:
t  → Chapter „Removing and installing seat cover and padding (seat bench without centre storage compartment)“.
t  → Chapter „Removing and installing seat cover and padding (seat bench with centre storage compartment)“.
–  Detach cover from padding:
t  → Chapter „Detaching seat cover from padding (seat bench without centre storage compartment)“.
t  → Chapter „Detaching seat cover from padding (seat bench with centre storage compartment)“.
   
–  Cut off electrical wire -3- directly at old seat heating element -2-.
  Note
t  Leave old seat heating element on padding -1- and cover it with new seat heating element.
t  -Arrows A ... E- can be disregarded.
Installing
–  Align new seat heating element on padding.
  Caution
t  Take care to attach the new seat heating element in such a way that it covers the old seat heating element exactly.
t  Detach protective foil from areas of heating element in bonding sequence.
t  When detaching protective foil, take care not to damage heating element and avoid creases when bonding.

–  Start bonding in centre section -arrow C- of seat heating element.
–  Then bond front section -arrow A-.
–  Route wiring leading from front to rear heating surface in bottom of gaps -arrows B-.
–  Bond rear section -arrow D- of heating surface.
–  Pull wire -3- through slit -arrow E- in padding.
Perform remaining installation in reverse order of removal.
