Removing and installing over-centre spring Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Assembly clip -T40025-

t  Removal wedge -3409-

Removing –  Remove dash panel trim (driver's side) → Rep. gr.68.

–  If fitted, unplug connector -C-. –  Unscrew bolts -A- and remove left footwell vent -B- → Rep. gr.87.

–  Move clutch pedal -1- slightly in direction of -arrow-. Press assembly clip -T40025- onto over-centre spring -2- while over-centre spring is compressed. –  Depress clutch pedal -1- fully to stop and remove over-centre spring -2- downwards with assembly clip -T40025-.

Installing over-centre spring –  Clip bearing shell -1- into appropriate bearing position.

Installation position of over-centre spring -2-
l  Bearing position „I“-arrow A-	t  Vehicles with 6-cylinder engine t  Vehicles with 8-cylinder engine
l  Bearing position „II“-arrow B-	t  Not used on vehicles with »0B4 gearbox«
l  Clip bearing shell -1- into appropriate bearing position. l  Black side of over-centre spring -arrow C- faces clutch pedal.

–  Depress clutch pedal -1- fully to stop and install over-centre spring -2- with assembly clip -T40025-. –  Pull clutch pedal -1- back to rest position. Take assembly clip -T40025- off over-centre spring -2- while over-centre spring is compressed.

–  Install footwell vent -B- and tighten bolt -A- → Rep. gr.87. –  If fitted, plug in connector -C-. –  Install dash panel trim (driver's side) → Rep. gr.68.
