Electrical/electronic components and fitting locations

Diagnostic connection t  Fitting location: The diagnostic connection for the vehicle diagnostic tester is located in the driver's footwell. t  Before servicing the gearbox, the cause of the fault should be identified as exactly as possible using the vehicle diagnostic tester via Guided Fault Finding, Vehicle Self-diagnosis and Test Instruments.

Mechatronic unit for dual clutch gearbox -J743-, valves, sensors and gearbox input speed sender t  Fitting location: the mechatronic unit for dual clutch gearbox -J743- is bolted to the bottom of the gearbox housing and covered by the ATF oil pan.   Note t  The mechatronic unit incorporates the hydraulic control system, the electronic control unit and the sensors and actuators as a complete synchronised unit. t  All components mentioned are tested via Self-diagnosis. → Chapter „Removing and installing mechatronic unit for dual clutch gearbox -J743-“.

Selector lever position display -Y6- t  Fitting location: The selector lever position display -Y6- is integrated in the instrument cluster.   Note If the selector lever position display is defective, renew the instrument cluster → Rep. gr.90.

Selector lever sensors control unit -J587- t  Fitting location: the selector lever sensors control unit -J587--item 2- is clipped onto the shift unit -arrows-.   Note -Arrows A- can be disregarded. → Chapter „Removing and installing selector lever sensors control unit -J587-“.

Selector lever lock solenoid -N110- t  Fitting location: the selector lever lock solenoid -N110--item 1- is clipped onto the selector mechanism. → Chapter „Removing and installing selector lever lock solenoid -N110-“.

Gear selector position P switch -F305- t  Fitting location: the gear selector position P switch -F305- consists of two reed contacts (-1- and - 2-) and is installed on printed circuit -B- in selector lever lock solenoid -N110--item A-.   Note Gear selector position P switch -F305- can only be renewed together with selector lever lock solenoid -N110-. → Chapter „Removing and installing selector lever lock solenoid -N110-“. Gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754- In conjunction with certain engine versions the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox 0B5 (S tronic) has an additional gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754-, which monitors the temperature of the gear oil (MTF) employed for the gear cluster. t  Fitting location: The gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754- is screwed into the gearbox in the area behind the oil pan. t  There are different types and fitting locations according to version → Chapter „Removing and installing gearbox oil temperature sender 2 -G754-“.

Selector lever position display -Y26- t  Fitting location: the display unit for selector lever position -Y26--item 1- is clipped into the centre console. → Chapter „Removing and installing selector lever position display -Y26-“.

Kickdown switch -F8- A specific value for the accelerator position sender -G79- and accelerator position sender 2 -G185- is stored in the engine control unit. t  Fitting location: the accelerator position senders are integrated in the accelerator pedal module -arrow-.   Note Renew accelerator pedal module if accelerator position sender is defective → Rep. gr.20.
