Removing and installing left flange shaft, clutch module, end cover, spur gears, selector shaft and gearbox cover.
Removing and installing input shaft, output shaft, reverse gear wheel and selector plates/selector forks → Chapter.
Fitting sequence - dismantling and assembling gearbox → Chapter.
1 - Clutch module
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Servicing → Chapter
2 - Clutch release lever with release bearing and retaining spring
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
q   Dismantling and assembling → Chapter
3 - Bolt
q   8 Nm
q   2x
q   Apply locking fluid -AMV 185 101 A1- when fitting
4 - Guide sleeve
q   Remove any existing grease from guide sleeve
5 - Input shaft oil seal
q   Removing and installing → Chapter
6 - Circlip
q   Determining thickness → Anchor
q   Insert in circumferential groove in input shaft
7 - Washer
8 - Gearbox housing
q   Removing and installing input shaft and output shaft with selector plates / selector forks → Chapter
q   Servicing → Chapter
q   Removing and installing differential → Chapter
9 - Sealing cap
q   For output shaft
q   Always renew
10 - Bolt
q   110 Nm
q   For output shaft
q   Always renew
11 - Oil drain plug
q   40 Nm
12 - Bolt
q   24 Nm
q   Steel bolts (M8; 25 mm long)
q   4x
q   Apply locking fluid -AMV 185 101 A1- when fitting
13 - Selector shaft with selector mechanism cover
q   Different versions are installed (with and without gearbox neutral position sender -G701-
q   Select correct version according to gearbox code letters → Electronic parts catalogue
q   Prior to attachment, coat the selector mechanism cover sealing surface at the gearbox cover with sealing paste -AMV 188 001 02-
14 - Bolt
q   27 Nm
q   Steel bolts (M8; 30 mm long)
q   3x
q   Secures bearing mounting to gearbox cover
q   Apply locking fluid -AMV 185 101 A1- when fitting
15 - Gear detector switch -F208-
q   20 Nm
q   Need not be removed for dismantling and assembling the gearbox
16 - Output gear/spur gear mechanism
17 - Circlip
18 - Roller bearing
l  Heed the installation position: The larger inside diameter of the roller cage faces the end cover → Item
19 - Bolt
q   10 Nm and then turn 90° further
q   Aluminium bolts (M8; 42 mm long)
q   11x
q   Always renew
20 - Bolt
q   24 Nm
q   Steel bolts (M8; 63 mm long)
q   2x
21 - End cover
q   Servicing → Chapter
22 - Fitted pin
q   1x
q   For centring end cover at gearbox cover
23 - Input gear/spur gear mechanism
q   Fit on output shaft
l  Heed the installation position: The side with the smaller Ø of the driver teeth -arrow- faces the end cover → Item
24 - Gearbox cover
q   Servicing → Chapter
25 - Bolt
q   24 Nm
q   Steel bolts (M8; 42 mm long)
q   16x
26 - Bolt
q   24 Nm
q   For reverse shaft at gearbox cover
27 - O-ring
q   Always renew
q   Installed in gearboxes with gearbox neutral position sender -G701- or sealing plug
28 - Bolt
q   24 Nm
q   Steel bolt (M8; 25 mm long)
q   Secures gearbox neutral position sender -G701- or sealing plug and sealing cap/selector shaft to gearbox cover
q   Not fitted on all versions
q   Apply locking fluid -AMV 185 101 A1- when fitting
29 - Gearbox neutral position sender -G701- or sealing plug
q   Gearbox neutral position sender for vehicles with start/stop system
q   Sealing plug → Item is fitted in place of the gearbox neutral position sender -G701-
q   Not fitted on all versions
q   Select correct version according to gearbox code letters → Electronic parts catalogue
  Note
If a sealing plug is fitted in place of the gearbox neutral position sender -G701-, it does not have to be removed when dismantling and assembling the gearbox.

q   Apply locking fluid -AMV 185 101 A1- when fitting
32 - Flange shaft (left-side)
