Removing and installing engine mounting (left-side)   Note t  To avoid repeat repairs, proceed as follows if an engine mounting is defective: t  Renew engine mounting and corresponding bracket. t  Also renew engine mounting on opposite side; check corresponding bracket and renew if necessary. Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Support bracket -10 - 222 A-

t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782-

t  Engine support bracket (supplementary set) -T40093-

Removing –  Remove noise insulation panels -1- and -2- → Rep. gr.66.

–  Position used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- below engine. –  Remove bolts -arrows- and tie up engine oil cooler to one side with coolant hoses -1- and -2- attached. Vehicles with continued coolant circulation pump -V51-: –  Remove continued coolant circulation pump -V51- → Chapter and engine oil cooler → Chapter.

All vehicles (continued): –  Remove air conditioner compressor → Rep. gr.87.

–  Set up support bracket -10 - 222 A- with adapter -T40093/6- on suspension turrets (left and right) as illustrated. –  Engage spindles -10 - 222 A /11- at engine lifting eyes (left and right). –  Partly take up weight of engine with spindles.

Vehicles with hydraulic power steering: –  Remove nut -2- and move bracket -1- clear.

All vehicles (continued): –  Remove bolt -2- for subframe (left-side).   Note Bolts -1- and -3- on left side and all bolts for subframe on right side remain fitted.

–  Unplug electrical connector -3- on left electrohydraulic engine mounting solenoid valve -N144-. –  Remove bolts -1, 4, 5- for engine mounting (left-side). –  Move retaining plate -2- for engine mounting (left-side) clear to the side. –  Detach engine mounting (left-side). Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following: Tightening torques l  → Chapter „Assembly mountings - exploded view“. l  → Fig. „„Bracket for hydraulic hose (vehicles with hydraulic power steering) - tightening torque““.   Note Renew the bolts tightened with specified tightening angle. –  Secure subframe → Rep. gr.40. –  Install air conditioner compressor → Rep. gr.87. –  Install engine oil cooler → Chapter. –  Install noise insulation panels → Rep. gr.66.
