q   Removing and installing (left and right) → Chapter
2 - Sleeve
3 - Fuel pressure sender -G247-
q   20 Nm
4 - Bracket

6 - High-pressure pipe
  WARNING
The fuel system operates at extremely high pressure. This can cause injury.
The fuel pressure in the high-pressure section of the injection system must be reduced to a residual pressure prior to opening the system.
q   Reducing fuel pressure in high-pressure section of injection system → Chapter
q   Do not alter shape
q   Do NOT bend open retainer for fuel pipe
q   If retainer has been bent open or fuel pipe has to be renewed, retainer must also be renewed
q   Tightening → Fig.

q   9 Nm
8 - Threaded connection
q   40 Nm
9 - Stud
10 - Nut
q   9 Nm
11 - Retainer for fuel rail
12 - Bolt
q   2.5 Nm
13 - Bolt
q   9 Nm
14 - Sleeve
15 - Fuel rail
16 - Seals
q   Renew
17 - Support ring
q   Make sure it is correctly seated
q   Via this support ring, the fuel rail exerts the force which holds the injector in the cylinder head.
18 - O-ring
q   Renew
q   Lubricate lightly with clean engine oil
19 - Spacer ring
q   Renew if damaged
20 - Combustion chamber ring seal
q   Renewing → Chapter „Removing and installing injectors“
21 - Radial compensation element
q   Renew if damaged
q   Clip onto support ring -item 17-
22 - Injector

Installing high-pressure pipe
–  Tighten union nut on high-pressure pipe hand-tight initially.
–  Ensure that high-pressure pipe is not under tension.
–  To tighten high-pressure pipe on fuel rail, use torque wrench -V.A.G 1331- with tool insert (open-end ring spanner, 17 mm) -V.A.G 1331/2-.
t  Tightening torque for union nut on high-pressure pipe: 27 Nm
