  Caution
Risk of damage to gearbox
The ATF required for the multitronic 0AW gearbox is different to the ATF used for fixed-ratio automatic gearboxes. Only the ATF available as a replacement part for the „multitronic 0AW, front-wheel drive“ gearbox may be used.

  Caution
Risk of damage to gearbox
t  From approx. September 2008 onwards, a new gear oil will be used in the „multitronic 0AW, front-wheel drive“ gearbox during production. These gearboxes have a filler plug with a Torx socket head and they have also been allocated new gearbox code letters.
t  Gearboxes manufactured prior to the introduction of the new gear oil will be filled with the old gear oil. These gearboxes have a filler plug with hexagon socket.
t  The gear oils must NOT be mixed, even in small quantities. This would result in leaks at the oil seals.
t  Select correct gear oil and filler plug for vehicle according to gearbox code letters → Electronic parts catalogue. Only the gear oil available as a replacement part for the „multitronic 0AW“ may be used in the front final drive.
t  Checking gear oil level in front final drive and topping up → Chapter
t  Filling up gear oil in front final drive after repairs → Chapter
