Securing engine to engine and gearbox support

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Lifting tackle -3033-

t	Engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095- with universal mounting -VAS 6095/1- and support bracket for V8 FSI engine -VAS 6095/1-6A-

t	Workshop hoist -VAS 6100-

t	Lift arm extension (workshop hoist) -VAS 6101-

Procedure l  Engine/gearbox assembly removed → Chapter; engine separated from gearbox → Chapter l  Engine secured with support -VAS 6131/13-7-.   Note

Lay a cloth under the separating point to catch escaping hydraulic fluid. –  Disconnect hydraulic line -arrow- for power steering.

–  Move clear electrical wiring at coolant pipe (bottom left). –  Remove bolt -2- and disconnect coolant pipe (bottom left) from coolant hoses -arrows-.   Note Disregard -item 1-.

–  Attach lifting tackle -3033- to engine lifting eyes and workshop hoist as shown in illustration. –  Take up weight of engine with workshop hoist, but do not lift.

–  Unplug electrical connector -3- on left electrohydraulic engine mounting solenoid valve -N144-. –  Remove bolt -4- for engine mounting (left-side).   Note Disregard items marked -1, 2- and -arrows-.

–  Unplug electrical connector -2- on right electrohydraulic engine mounting solenoid valve -N145-. –  Remove bolt -1- for engine mounting (right-side).   Note Disregard items marked -3, 4- and -arrows-.

–  Remove support -VAS 6131/13-7- from engine. –  Lift off engine from engine cross member.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove engine support (left-side).

–  Remove bolt -arrow-.

–  Remove bolt -2- and push secondary air pipe down slightly. –  Remove nut -1- and move earth wire clear at engine support. –  Unscrew bolts -arrows- and remove engine support (right-side). –  Tie up starter on engine.

–  Secure engine to engine and gearbox support -VAS 6095- with 40 Nm using universal mounting -VAS 6095/1- and support bracket for V8 FSI engine -VAS 6095/1-6A-, as shown in illustration.
