Note:  The larger internal diameter of the wheel bearing faces the wheel hub.

When pressing, VW519 sleeve must only exert force against bearing inner race

CAUTION:   
^

Make sure that the wheel bearing housing does not exert force against the wheel hub. Otherwise there is the risk of damaging the wheel bearing
.

The wheel bearing housing must remain as horizontal as possible when pressing in the hub. Otherwise the wheel hub will cant in the wheel
bearing, which will lead to early wheel bearing damage.

When pressing, VW4471 thrust pad must only exert force against bearing inner race

CAUTION:

Make sure that the wheel bearing housing does not exert force against the wheel hub. Otherwise there is the risk of damaging the wheel bearing

The wheel bearing housing must remain as horizontal as possible when pressing in the hub. Otherwise the wheel hub will cant in the wheel
bearing, which will lead to early wheel bearing damage.

Alternative method for wheel bearing removal
Instead of using VAG 1290A workshop press, it is also possible to use VAG 1459 B hydraulic wheel bearing/hub installation tool with VAG1459 B/2
auxiliary equipment.
The advantages are:

It is not necessary to completely remove the wheel bearing housing.

The tie rod ends remain attached to the wheel bearing housing and therefore wheel alignment does not need to be checked.
