Timing Belt: Service and Repair
Camshaft Drive Belt, Removal and Installation

Removing

The battery is located in the luggage compartment, right side, under a cover.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting the battery, determine the correct coding for the antitheft radio.

- Ignition switched off
- Disconnect battery ground strap.
- Remove noise insulation panel.
- Remove intake air grille from bumper, refer to Body and Frame, Front Grille, Service and Repair  See: Body and Frame/Grille/Service and Repair
- Attach drain hose, approx. 12 mm (1/2 in.) inside diameter, to drain fitting at bottom left of radiator.
- Drain coolant into clean container.

- Loosen ribbed belt. 

Place box-end wrench on tensioner bracker and slowly push upward (arrow).

- Remove ribbed belt.  See: Drive Belt/Service and Repair

- Unbolt engine cover.
- Remove coolant hose clamp on right belt guard.
- Remove air intake duct between air cleaner and throttle body.

- Disconnect air shroud for viscous fan and electric coolant fan on radiator (upper-left).
- Remove from top and place to side of engine compartment.
