Whirring noise from front of engine.
Technical Background
May be caused by dirt and water entering ribbed belt upper idler roller bearing.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
1.
Open hood and check existing roller. If plastic upper idler roller with cap is already installed, the vehicle has already been updated and no further
work is necessary.
2.
Activate the vehicle jack mode before raising vehicle on a hoist (with wheels off the ground). Vehicle does not need to be put into service position.
3.
Mark the direction of rotation with chalk or a felt pen before removing the ribbed belt.
