Rear Side Airbag With Fixed Backrest, Deactivating

Deactivating

-

Remove rear bench seat.

NOTE:  The left and right side airbags can only be deactivated jointly. Separate deactivation of side airbags is not possible.

A connector is installed on left and right under rear seat bench.

-

Press off retainer tab -2- in direction of arrow and detach connector -1-.

-

Secure loose connectors with cable ties.

Vehicles without head airbag

-

Remove rear wheel housing trim.

-

Detach connector to crash sensors at C-pillar.

-

Install rear seat bench.

Sticker for deactivated rear side airbag

-

Attach sticker indicating deactivated side airbags -1- to left and right rear door frames -2- (arrow).

-

If several stickers have to be affixed in a particular country attach them above the one shown in the illustration.

-

Change coding of airbag control module to the coding without rear side airbag.

Fill in registration card and forward it to appropriate sales center/importer for registration. Put page 3 of the registration card in the vehicle
documents.

Activating

-

Remove rear bench seat.
