Triggered belt tensioners can be seen from display "too great"
B - Airbag control module replaced:
-
Connect Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 A and select vehicle system "15 - Airbag" from list. Ignition must be
switched on.

Interrogate fault memory.
Triggered belt tensioners can be seen from fault message "Belt tensioner igniter - Resistance value too high".
Following must also be replaced if necessary (visual inspection):

All damaged components
Accident not involving airbag triggering

Airbag component replacement is not necessary if airbag warning lamp Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) K75 does not indicate a fault.
Seat belts are to be checked separately.
After replacing airbag modules or control module, affix stickers (only tear - off strips) to registration card and return registration card to relevant
Sales Center or to Importer for registration.
Storage and transportation of airbag modules

Airbag modules are class PT 1 pyrotechnic objects, storage and transportation of which are subject to legislation governing explosion - hazard
materials.

Airbag modules are not to be stored for more than 3 months.
Disposal of airbag modules
Whenever possible, airbag modules must be deployed outside vehicle. Use Airbag and Pyrotechnic Deployment Device J - 44210 and follow instructions
in booklet.

Airbags can be disposed of with commercial refuse after removal.

National and local regulations are always to be observed.

Airbag modules must be rendered unusable prior to disposal by means of electrical ignition in accordance with accident prevention regulations, as
pyrotechnic objects can cause injury if activated incorrectly.

airbag module must only be electrically ignited when installed in vehicle. Proceed as follows:

Remove connector from airbag module and connect wiring harness, Part no. 8D1 971 259, to airbag module.

Install airbag module.

Cut off connector at other end of wiring harness, strip ends of two wires and slit wire sheath until ends of wires are at least 30 cm apart.

Trigger airbag with doors closed and windows open using wiring harness and external battery (outside vehicle).
CAUTION:

There must not be anyone in vehicle.

Minimum distance from vehicle: 10 m

Make sure adequate vehicle ventilation after triggering.

Airbags can be disposed of with commercial refuse after removal.

Always wash hands after touching airbags which have been deployed..
