NOTE:

Observe safety rules for handling pyrotechnic belt tensioners

Whenever possible, pyrotechnic belt tensioners must be deployed outside the vehicle. Use Airbag and Pyrotechnic Deployment Device J- 44210
and follow instructions in booklet.

Belts which have been deployed can be disposed of with refuse (garbage)

Always wash hands after handling belt tensioners which have been activated.

Remove rear bench seat.

Remove rear seat backrest.

Remove rear shelf.

In USA: Remove anchorage point for rear center floor panel.

Except USA: Cut off belt above latch plate approx. 20 cm below belt reel.

In USA: Pull belt out completely and prevent belt rolling up with a knot which is as close as possible to the belt reel (because of the beltfastened
sensor).

Detach connector from belt reel and connect wiring harness (Part no. 8D1 971 259).

Cut connector off at other end and insulate both cable ends.

Slit cable sheath until ends of wires are at least 30 cm apart.

Ensure that no one is in the vehicle.

Close doors and open windows.

Trigger gas generator using wiring harness and external battery, which is positioned outside of vehicle.

Ventilate vehicle adequately.
