Power steering gear, assembly overview

The power steering gear is removed and installed complete with tie rods.
1. Power steering gear with tie rods

2. Bolt, 30 Nm
3. Steering column
4. Bulkhead collar

Check for cracks and abrasion

5. Bolt, 95 Nm

Observe the tightening sequence

To tighten bolt adjust the torque wrench V.A.G 1332 to 75 Nm.
This tightening torque only applies in connection with wrench attachment T 40037.

6. Bolt, 95 Nm

Observe the tightening sequence

7. Bolt, 5 Nm 
8. Bolt 
9. Self-locking nut, 50 Nm

Replace each time after removing 

10. Wheel carrier (steering arm) 
11. Return hose
12. Pressure line
13. Banjo bolt, 40 Nm
14. Sealing ring

^

Always replace 

15. Sealing ring

^

Always replace 

16. Bolt, 22 Nm
