Push upward as far as the end of the grooves on the air spring damper,

It must be engaged in the retaining ring -Item 8- at the bottom

Apply CV joint boot clamp tool V.A.G 1682 as shown. Make sure that the jaws of the CV joint boot clamp tool install centered -arrow A- on the
clamp.

Tighten hose clamp by turning spindle with a torque wrench (take care to keep pliers straight).
Note:

Tightening torque: 8 Nm

Use torque wrench with an adjustment range of 4 - 20 Nm (e.g. V.A.G 1410).

Make sure that the thread of the CV joint boot clamp spindle -A- is not stiff. Lubricate with MoS2 grease, if necessary.

If the thread is tight e.g. due to dirt, the required tightening force for the clamp will not be achieved in spite of correct tightening torque settings.

Inspect rubber boot -1- for damage.
The surface must be regular and uniform.

Replace air spring damper if damaged.
