Shift Mechanism and Selector Lever Cable

  ‹› If repair work only needs to be done on the shift mechanism function unit, it can be removed and installed separately. Refer to => [ Selector

  Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Pry Lever - RMV Outside Mirror (80 - 200)

‹› Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Removing 

-

Move the selector lever into D.

-

With the ignition switched off, disconnect the battery ground (GND) cable.

-

Remove the handle on the selector lever. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Selector Lever
Handle.

Remove front ashtray.

-

Remove center console cover panel.

-

Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the protective cover - 2 -.

-

Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - from the circuit board.

-

Disconnect the electrical connector - 3 - for the shift lock solenoid.

  ‹› The electrical connector - 3 - also has a protective cover.

-

To disconnect cover from shift mechanism function unit, carefully release retaining tabs - arrows - one after another.
