Remove tie rod - 5 -.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

‹› Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Only tighten suspension bolts when vehicle is in curb weight or control position. 

‹› Wheel bearing, lifting to curb weight position on vehicles with coil springs. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing, with Coil Spring, Lifting to Curb Weight

Insert tie rod - 5 -.

The marking - 3 - (one on the head of the T ) on the tie rod - 5 - must be on the outer side pointing forward, as illustrated.

First insert the bolt - 1 - completely and then align it according the marking.

Insert and tighten the bolt - 4 -.

Install bolt - 1 - by hand. Tighten bolt nut -  1 - to the tightening specification only after measuring the axle alignment.

Tighten wheel. Refer to => Wheel and Tire Guide 44 Specifications.

Vehicle alignment required. Refer to => [ When Vehicle Alignment is Necessary ] See: Maintenance/Alignment/Testing and Inspection/When
Vehicle Alignment is Necessary

Alignment must take place on a VW/Audi recommended alignment stand.
