Preparing for Removal
-
Switch on the ignition.
-
Set direction of air flow to the Air Conditioning (A/C) control head climatronic control module (J255) to " DEF" (toward the windshield).
-
Move the passenger seats as far back as possible.
-
Switch off ignition.
-
Disconnect the ground cable form the battery ( A)..
‹› Disconnect the battery (A) ground connection so that it cannot short circuit when the jumper cable post - C - is removed.
-
Remove the jumper cable post cover - C -.
-
Remove the jumper cable post - C - from the strut dome and lay it to the side.
-
Remove the air intake housing. Refer to => [ A/C Unit Air Intake Housing ] See: Air Duct/Service and Repair/A/C Unit Air Intake Housing.
-
Disconnect the connector from the evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263) => [ Evaporator Vent ] See: Sensors and Switches - HVAC/Solar
Sensor/Service and Repair/Temperature Sensors.
-
Remove the right radiator housing. Refer to => [ Right Radiator Housing with Temperature Doors ] See: Housing Assembly HVAC/Service and
Repair/Removal and Replacement/Right Radiator Housing with Temperature Doors.
‹› Due to the lack of space when the instrument panel is installed (and the A/C is installed) because of the clamps - B - and - C -, a heat exchanger
cannot be reinstalled with the necessary safety. If a factory installed heat exchanger must be reinstalled, remove the instrument panel and the air
guide leading to the "Defrost" vent. Install the O-ring seals, lightly coated with coolant, (as described for installing an exchange part - heat
exchanger) on the coolant pipes - D - and - E - , and press the coolant pipes - D - and - E - (with the O-ring seals) from the top into the
connections on the heat exchanger - A -. Hold the coolant pipes - D - and - E - in the heat exchanger and install the clamps - B - and - C -. Further
assembly is performed as described for installing a replacement part - heat exchanger.
