Right Radiator Housing with Temperature Doors
‹› Air Conditioning (A/C) units which have an additional connection for the glove compartment cooling are being installed. Refer to => [ Glove
Compartment Cooling ] See: Description and Operation/Glove Compartment Cooling. Make sure the correct right radiator housing and air intake
hosing (different versions) are installed.
‹› The activation of the temperature doors and with it the right radiator housing is different between vehicles equipped with "Comfort" and " Basis"
A/C systems. Refer to => [ A/C Unit and Air Intake Housing Components ] See: Description and Operation/A/C Unit and Air Intake Housing
Components.
‹› To maintain the A/C stability, only one radiator housing (the left or right side) may be removed with the A/C installed.
‹› There are different versions of the lever and connecting elements on the A/C depending on the when the vehicle was produced. Refer to => [ Air
Conditioner, Levers and Connecting Elements ] See: Air Door/Description and Operation.
‹› On vehicles with the "Comfort" A/C system, the right radiator housing can be removed and installed with the motor retaining place removed or
installed. The "Basis" A/C system does not have this retaining plate.
‹› Removing and installing the right radiator housing (vehicles with " Basis" and on a vehicle with the "Comfort" A/C , where the right retaining
place should be removed and installed with the right retaining place for the motors). Refer to => [ Right Radiator Housing with Motor Retaining

‹› Removing and install the right radiator housing, with the right retaining place and the motors (only on vehicles with "Comfort" A/C system. Refer
to => [ Right Radiator Housing and Motor Retaining Plate ]

‹› Vehicles with "Basis" Air Conditioning (A/C) (retaining plate not present)
‹› Vehicles with "Comfort" A/C by which the right retaining plate and motors and the right radiator housing are supposed to be removed and
installed one after the other.
Removing
-
Switch on the ignition.
-
Set direction of air flow to the A/C control head climatronic control module (J255) to "DEF" (toward the windshield).

Move the passenger seats as far back as possible.

Switch off ignition.

Air intake housing, removing. Refer to => [ A/C Unit Air Intake Housing ] See: Air Duct/Service and Repair/A/C Unit Air Intake Housing.
On a vehicle with "Comfort" A/C

Remove the right retaining plate and motors (V109) and (V111). Refer to => [ Retaining Plate with Right Footwell Door and Right Center Vent ]

On a vehicle with "Basis" A/C

Remove the center vent adjustment motor (V102 ). Refer to => [ Center Vent Adjustment ] See: Air Door/Air Door Actuator / Motor/Service and
Repair.
All vehicles

Disconnect the connector from the evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263). Refer to => [ Evaporator Vent ] See: Sensors and Switches -
HVAC/Solar Sensor/Service and Repair/Temperature Sensors.

Carefully disconnect the connector rod - B - (so the lever does not get damaged) from the lever on the right temperature door - A -.
