Upper A-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing

Upper A-pillar Trim, Removing And Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

-

Trim removal wedge 3409

Removing

CAUTION:

-

Observe safety precautions for work on side curtain airbag.

-

Do not connect side curtain airbag when installing upper A-pillar trim - 1 -.

-

Carefully unclip cover cap with airbag symbol - 1 - from upper A-pillar trim - 2 -. 

NOTE:  Cover caps remains hanging on upper A-pillar trim and cannot be removed.

Remove bolt - 3 -.

-

Carefully pry out upper A-pillar trim - 2 - beginning at top using Trim Removal Wedge 3409.

-

Then remove upper A-pillar trim from instrument panel.

Installing

Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Observe safety precautions for work on side curtain airbag.

-

Do not connect side curtain airbag when installing upper A-pillar trim - 1 - .

NOTE:

-

If trim clamps remain in body mounting points, remove these and insert them in trim.

-

Check clamps for damage or deformation, replace if necessary.

-

Remove locking compound residue from threaded screw holes in upper A-pillar trim. You can use a thread cutter to do so.

If threaded hole is not cleaned, there is the danger that the new screw could seize up during installation and shear off when removed again.
