Lateral Accelerometer: Service and Repair
ESP Sensor Unit
ESP Sensor Unit
Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200), Rotation Rate Sensor (G202) and Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251) are installed in one housing
beneath the center console.
When exchanging the ESP sensor unit (G419), a basic (default) setting of the sensor for transverse acceleration (G200), Rotation Rate Sensor (G202),
and Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251) must be performed.
CAUTION!
Sharp shaking motions can destroy Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200), Rotation Rate Sensor (G202) and Longitudinal Acceleration
Sensor (G251).
Removing

Remove center console.

Remove airbag control module.

Disconnect connector - 1 - from ESP Sensor Unit (G419).

Remove two mounting nuts - arrows -.

Remove ESP Sensor unit (G419).
Installing
‹› Never force ESP sensor unit into position using mounting nuts.

Installation is in reverse order of removal.
When installing ESP sensor unit make sure it is correctly seated in its bracket and is free of stress.

Tighten nuts to 8 Nm.

Perform basic setting for Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200), Rotation Rate Sensor (G202) and Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251).
Connect (VAS 5051B or VAS 5052).
If the ESP sensor unit is being replaced, select Guided Functions. Refer to => [ VAS 5051B and VAS 5052, Connecting and Selecting Functions ]
