Brake Caliper: Removal and Replacement

Brake Caliper, 18" Plus

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1576)

‹› When removing, mark brake pads that will be used again. Install in the same position, otherwise braking effect will be uneven!

Removing

-

Remove wheels.

-

Separate the connector for brake pad wear indicator.

-

Unclip the cable for the brake pad wear display from the spring in the brake caliper.

-

Remove the brake hose from its mount on the stub axle carrier.

-

Using pliers, slightly push the brake piston on the installed brake pads.

‹› Do not loosen the brake hose.

-

Loosen brake caliper at the bolts - arrows -

CAUTION!
The brake caliper must never be removed from the adapter. The radial bolted multipoint head cap bolt must never be loosened.

Pull brake caliper from brake disc.

-

Hang brake caliper on the body using a suitable wire.
