Discharge Air Temperature Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair
Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385

Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 

NOTE: 

-

Installed only in vehicles with "Comfort" version A/C system

-

Retaining plate - B - can then only be removed and installed with instrument panel installed when the bolts - C - are not tightened too tightly. Since
on the other hand the connection of the lever on the control motors to the levers on the flaps cannot be checked with the instrument panel installed,
it makes sense to remove the instrument panel and remove and install the control motors with the retaining plate installed, despite the great amount
of work involved to remove and install the installed control motor.

Removing 

-

Remove instrument panel.

-

Remove retaining plate with Left Footwell Flap Motor V108 and Left Temperature Flap Motor V158.

-

Remove retaining plate with Defroster Flap Motor V107, Left Side Vent Motor V299 and Left Center Vent Motor V110.

-

Disconnect connector - B - from Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 - A -.

-

Rotate Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 - A - approx. 90 degrees in direction of arrow.

-

Remove Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 - A - from heating A/C unit.

Installing 

-

Check O-ring seal - D - for damage and proper fitting.

-

Insert Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 - A - on proper side into heating A/C unit mount - E -.

NOTE:  An O-ring seal - D - is installed so that Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 fits without play in mount - E -.

Connect connector - B - to Left Front Upper Body Outlet Temperature Sensor G385 - A - and check routing of wire - E -.

-

Install retaining plate with Defroster Flap Motor V107, Left Side Vent Motor V299 and Left Center Vent Motor V110.

-

Install retaining plate with Left Footwell Flap Motor V108 and Left Temperature Flap Motor V158.

-

Install the remaining removed components again in reverse order.

-

Check DTC memory of front A/C control head Climatronic Control Module J255 and erase DTCs displayed if necessary. Vehicle Diagnosis,
Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.

-

Perform basic setting and output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) on the A/C system. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051
in "Guided Fault Finding" function.
