Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Removal and Replacement

Tie rod, removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench V.A.G 1332

Removing

Note:

If tie rod is replaced, axle alignment should be performed after installation.

With vehicles with air suspension, place vehicle on hoist.

-

Remove wheel.

-

Remove bolt - 1 -.

-

Mark position of eccentric bolt to subframe.

-

Remove nut - 3 - and remove bolt.

-

Remove tie rod - 2

Installing 

Installation is in reverse order of removal. Observe:

Install tie rod with conical surface - arrow - on wheel bearing housing.
