Remove all 6 bolts - 4 -.

-

Remove the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587) - 3 - from the shift mechanism housing -  1 -.

Installing

‹› Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, R Tronic Assembly Overview ] See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual

Operation/Selector Mechanism, R Tronic Assembly Overview. 

‹› Use the shift mechanism housing grease.

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Grease the roller bearing - 2 - lightly and make sure it is seated securely in the selector lever.

Check the O-ring => [ (Item 14) O-ring ] See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual Transmission/Transaxle/Gearshift Actuating System -
M/T/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Controls, Housing/Description and Operation/Selector Mechanism, R Tronic Assembly
Overview on the bottom end of the selector lever rod and grease it lightly.

‹› The magnet on the bottom end of the selector lever rod (the O-ring => [ (Item 14) O-ring ] See: Transmission and Drivetrain/Manual

Transmission/Transaxle/Gearshift Actuating System - M/T/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Controls, Housing/Description and
Operation/Selector Mechanism, R Tronic Assembly Overview is installed on it) must be installed securely.

Check the magnet, for example, with a bolt.

-

Remove metal shavings or other metallic objects from the magnets. 

‹› The magnet transmits the selector lever position or shift procedure to the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587).

‹› Shifting is not possible without the magnet or the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587) cannot recognize the shifting procedure.

When connecting the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587), make sure the roller bearing engages correctly.

Tighten bolt - 4 -.

Guide the three electrical connectors on the Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587) through the opening on the shift mechanism
housing and connect them.

‹› Disconnect the electrical connector - 5 - to the Transmission Control Module (J217).

‹› Electrical connector - 6 - to the Sport Program Button (E541)

‹› Electrical connector - 7 - to the Selector Lever Transmission Range Display (Y5)
