12. Reassemble and secure bolts 9 and 15 (Figure 18) with locking fluid D 000 600 A2. Tightening torque: 30 Nm.

Checking propeller shaft (criterion 03)

1. Apply handbrake and engage first gear.

2. Lift vehicle on lifting platform. The front wheels must be free to turn.

3. Apply counter hold tool T10172/9 directly to bolt heads on propeller shaft flange (engine end). Apply torque to counter hold tool. Try to turn the

propeller shaft in both directions. Free rotation of a few millimeters is normal because of the play in the constant velocity joint.

If the flange does not turn more than a few millimeters (free play), the transmission shaft is OK. No further work is required.

If the flange can be rotated more than a few millimeters, replace the propeller shaft. Consult ETKA for the most up-to-date part number per the

Cluster Software update with SVM code 91E3A001 (criterion 04)

TIP:  

Because of the large amount of data that has to be transferred for a software update, please note that the remote diagnosis head VAS 5054 must always
be connected to the VAS 5051 or VAS 5052 tester via the USB cable port, and not via the Bluetooth USB interface.

1. Connect a battery charger to vehicle. Select standby mode on battery charger.

2. Switch off all unnecessary electrical equipment (blower, seat heater, interior light, etc.).

TIP:  

Also make sure that no electromagnetic interference sources (mobile phone or cordless DECT telephone) are operated in or near the vehicle while
individual control units are being updated.
