Oil Pan: Removal and Replacement
Oil Pan (Upper Part), Removing and Installing

Oil pan (upper part), removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

^

Oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782

^

Protective glasses

^

Drill with plastic brush attachment

^

Sealant

Removing
-

Place oil collecting and extracting device V.A.G 1782 under engine and drain engine oil.

-

Remove engine

-

Disconnect engine and transmission

-

Secure engine to assembly stand

-

Remove covers for timing chains

Note:  Mark direction of rotation of ribbed belt using chalk or felt-tip marker before removing. Reversing the direction of rotation of a run-in belt can
destroy the belt.

Loosen tensioning bolt - arrow - and remove ribbed belt.

Remove tensioning roller - arrows -.
