Steering Gear: Service and Repair
All Wheel Drive
Power steering gear, removing and installing
CAUTION: When removing and installing the steering gear, comply with the following specifications or damage to the hydraulic brake booster
and/or the steering gear will result. The wheels must be in straight-ahead position before removing the steering gear. This ensures that the airbag
spiral spring in the steering wheel will not be damaged.
Removing
Disconnect battery ground strap.
Remove both front wheels.
Remove cross stabilizer.
Disconnect left and right intake air hose brackets.
Remove air hoses.
Remove upper part of air cleaner housing.
Remove lower pant of air cleaner housing; press back and remove toward top.
Disconnect distributor cap on left and right and remove.
