Camshaft: Service and Repair

Camshafts, removing and installing 

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Adhesive lubricating paste G 052 723 A2

Removing

Engine in vehicle

Note:

^

All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be replaced in the same position when installing.

^

Heat insulation sleeves that have been removed are to be reinstalled in the original position.

-

Remove timing chain from camshafts.

-

Unbolt valve timing housing (arrows).

-

Carefully separate valve timing housing from oil seals for camshafts.

-

Remove intake camshaft -A- as follows:

1 - Unbolt bearing caps 1 and 13.
