3 Series E36 318tds (M41) SAL
Heat rear case beside bearings to approx. 80
°
C (hot air blower).
Install new bearing: if necessary, drive in bearing to limit position
with special tool 23 2 450/ 00 5 500.
Clean screws and threaded bores.
Fit retaining plates (1).
Coat screws with Loctite 243 and screw down.
Tightening torque,
refer to Technical Data 23 11 17AZ.
Bearings on countershaft:
Clamp countershaft in a vise with protective jaws.
Note:
Screw (1) has a left-hand thread.
Unscrew bolt (1).
Press off bearing (2) with special tool 23 1 250 on a hydraulic
press.
