Motorola V3690 mobile phone heats up strongly

Complaint:
The Motorola V3690 mobile phone heats up strongly when it is connected to the eject box.
Cause:
Contacts on the 25-pin connector (X18500) for the hands-free charging electronics that
have been pushed in or bent. The contacts could be pushed in or bent if the connection is
not established correctly.
Affected
vehicles:
E38, E39, E46, E53 with complete basic fittings for Motorola V3690 mobile phone (option
632) or basic equipment for installation of mobile phone (option 640) and retrofit Motorola
V3690 mobile phone (option 632)
Manufacturing period: June 2000 to June 2001
Procedure:
In case of customer complaint, perform the following actions:
Check the hands-free charging electronics and replace as necessary.
1.
Remove the hands-free charging electronics
Please refer to Repair Instructions "Removing and installing / replacing hands-free
charging electronics",
RA 84 21 530.
2.
Check the hardware and software status of the hands-free charging electronics. This
is printed on the label on the hands-free charging electronics (see illustration).
If the hardware and software status is "HW/SW: 06/02" or
"HW/SW: 07/02" or "HW/SW: 07/03":
Replace the hands-free charging electronics.
