Select new spacer rings from table,

refer to table for spacer rings.

Note:

A difference in spacer ring thickness of 0.03 mm will alter the
backlash by approx. 0.02 mm.

If the backlash is too great, install thinner spacer rings.

If the backlash is too small, install thicker spacer rings.

Rotate engine at central bolt in direction of rotation until
piston (1 and 4) is at TDC position.

Note:

For the purposes of assigning the balancing shafts, it does not
matter whether the engine is at overlap or firing TDC.

Hold crankshaft in TDC position with special tool 11 2 300.

Caution!

Remove special tool 11 2 300 before switching on the
engine.

Caution!

Balancing shaft housing weighs approx. 8 kg.

Release bolts in sequence 6 ... 1.

Remove balancing shaft housing and spacer rings.
