Please note: 
The numbers of the keys for the "Car and Key Memory" settings have nothing to do with each other and may be
different from the numbers required to cancel the keys in the EWS diagnostic program.

8.0 Initialising keys - ordering additional keys

As a rule, the two keys with remote control supplied with the vehicle at delivery are already initialised. If this is not the
case, or if a third or fourth key with remote control is ordered, proceed as follows:

Keys with remote control which have not been initialised must first be initialised - please refer to Owner's Handbook. 

The initialisation sequence is of vital importance for the numbering of the keys. 

The first key to be initialised automatically receives the number 1 and should therefore be given the grey label in
accordance with our recommendation.

9.0 Notes and tips on "Car and Key Memory"

9.1 Test drive of vehicles programmed with "Car and Key Memory"

The seat position usually has to be adjusted by the mechanic carrying out the test drive.

To prevent the customer's individual setting from being changed (seat/mirror memory, heating/air
conditioning/ventilation), the vehicle must always be unlocked mechanically at the door lock. The seat position can
now be changed.

When the customer unlocks the vehicle in the customary manner using the key with remote control, the settings
which were last allocated to his specific key are reactivated.

Settings made in this manner by workshop staff will not be stored if this procedure is followed.

9.2 Explanatory notes on symbols and terms used

"Factory setting" 
If "factory setting" is selected, the vehicle will be programmed without regard for the individually programmed settings
in the central encoding key (ex work delivery condition). All settings differing form the "factory settings" are lost.

Please note: 
If the passenger seat occupancy detector was deactivated, this function must be carried out again with the program
"Encoding body/suspension" after selecting "factory settings". Seat occupancy detector deactivation is not
documented in the central encoding key. Airbag deactivation is documented in the central encoding key and will
remain active after "factory setting" is selected.

"Cancel selection" 
If "cancel selection" is selected, the "wish list" compiled by the programmer is cancelled. New settings can then be
selected.

"Program vehicle" 
If "program vehicle" is selected, the individual functions in the "wish list" are programmed into the individual systems.
The settings can be printed out in full before programming by pressing "hard copy".

9.3 Symbols for identifying individual functions in the "Car and Key Memory"

In the course of the program, new symbols will appear before the possible function settings:

The "*" symbol marks a "factory setting" 
The "*" symbol indicates that the marked setting corresponds to the "factory setting" in the central encoding key.

The "=" symbol marks the "current setting"
