E46 Car and Key Memory
Situation:
The program "Car and Key Memory" is introduced to the dealer organisation with CD V 13.
This allows settings specific to the vehicle and to the key to be modified and stored in the
electronic vehicle systems in accordance with customer requirements.
"Car Memory"
Settings relevant to the vehicle are made in the "Car Memory". These settings are
independent of the key used, for both unlocking the vehicle with the remote control or
mechanically at the lock.
"Key Memory"
Settings in the "Key Memory" are allocated to a specific key with remote control. All the
necessary data is stored in the respective control units. "Key Memory" settings can only be
allocated to keys with remote control. Two keys with remote control are supplied as part of
the vehicle's standard equipment. Settings can be allocated and stored for up to four keys.
Please note:
The settings are not stored in the key itself. If the vehicle is unlocked with the remote
control, the key is identified by the vehicle. This identification is forwarded via the bus
systems to the electronic control units in the vehicle, which in turn activate the individually
stored settings.
A list of all "Car and Key Memory" settings valid for the E46 can be found in the enclosure.

Settings can be made in the dealership with DIS or with the new MoDiC.
Exception:
"Seat/mirror memory"

The individual driver's seat position set by the customer will be allocated to his key,
provided that this function has been activated in the "Car Memory" program by the
dealer. The stored position will be called up as soon as the customer unlocks the car
with the remote control feature on his key.
The seat memory function by pressing the button on the seat operates independently
of the "Car and Key Memory" settings.

The "mirror memory" function is not available for the E46 at present.
Heating / air conditioning / ventilation

Customer-specific settings on the air conditioner control panel are allocated to the key
with which the car was unlocked using the remote control feature. An initial setting by
the dealer is not necessary. The settings for "Individual air distribution" (1), "Automatic
air distribution" (2) and temperature and air supply intake (3) are stored specifically for
the customer (see figure).
