3 Series E46 320d (M47) SAL
Install wear-resistant "S" conrod bearing shell (high version) in
conrod.
For each conrod, install red and blue bearing shell (irrespective of
color coding on conrod shaft).
Caution!
Note grinding stages on crankshaft.
Install piston.
Check connecting-rod bearing clearance:
Piston in BDC position.
Place special tool 00 2 590 (Plastigage model PG 1) on oil-free
crankshaft.
Fit bearing caps so that pair numbers match up.
