Removing and installing, sealing / replacing
timing case cover (M57)

Special tools required:

Note:

If the timing chains are reinstalled, their direction of travel
must be marked.

Removing oil sump:

Refer to 11 13 000

.

Note:

After removing oil sump, provisionally reinstall front axle
support and remove special tool  00 0 200 .

Removing cylinder head:

Refer to 11 12 100

.

Removing alternator:

Refer to 12 31 020

.

Release screws on A/C compressor.

Disconnect plug (1).

Remove A/C compressor and tie back to one side.
