Removing and installing/replacing CNG gas
bottle with retaining frame (E34)
Drain CNG system,
refer to section on draining the CNG system
Caution!
If the gas bottle is replaced, it must be completely emptied. To
do this, attach special tool 12 8 010 to the wiring harness
connector on the gas density sensor, switch on the engine
and press the gas button to switch over to gas operating
mode. Run engine in gas operating mode until it stalls. Stop
cock on gas bottle must remain open during this operation.
After draining the gas bottle, close the stop cock.
Unlock and remove cover (1), lift cover off spare wheel (2).
Unfasten screws on cover of gas tank and remove cover from
luggage compartment.
