Transmission housing leaks

E34, E36 with THM-R1 transmission

Complaint: 

Oil leak at joint between converter bell housing / intermediate housing and/or between
intermediate housing and main housing.

Cause: 

Gasket material has aged.

Affected
vehicles:

520iA/M50, 525iA/M50 from 04/90 to 08/90
525iA/M50 US 
325iA/M50 US
316iA, 318iA, 318isA
325tdA and 525tdA

Procedure:

A seal and gasket kit has been compiled. If a problem is reported, this kit should be fitted in
accordance with

Repair Instructions 24 11 575

(refer to Enclosure).

Parts: 

The seal and gasket kit can be obtained through the usual part ordering channels,
part number 24 41 1 422 762.

Reimbursement: 

Material and labour costs incurred can be claimed through the usual warranty channels
subject to current warranty terms as follows:
