Replacing fuel filter unit (M51, M41)

M51 up to 12/94:

Disconnect plug connection (1) for water level sensor and plug
connection (2) for fuel heating.

M41, M51 from 1/95:

Disconnect connector (2). Water level sensor is not fitted.

Press retainers (if necessary, pull out completely) and pull pipes (3
and 4) off. Catch escaping fuel.

Caution!

Catch escaping fuel.

Installation:

Check sealing rings, replace if necessary. To simplify
assembly operation, coat seals with acid-free grease.

To fill and bleed fuel filter, depress clip and remove line (3),
then turn engine on starter motor, catching fuel as it escapes.

Unscrew bolts (5 and 6) and remove filter.

Pour contents of filter into a suitable container.
