Scrapping of old vehicles
Pyrotechnical components
Situation:
Companies engaged in the business of scrapping cars must comply with the currently
applicable instructions compiled by BMW for scrapping old BMW vehicles with
pyrotechnical components (airbag, belt tensioner, belt-buckle tensioner).
A set of special tools has been prepared in order to promote correct work procedures in
accordance with the instructions.
(Please refer to Enclosure 1)
A set of instructions clearly describing how to use the tools is enclosed with each set of
special tools.
Companies engaged in the scrap business will be informed by their trade association about
how to go about ordering this set of special tools from any BMW dealer.
Note:
Special tool set 62 1 400 is released for resale to companies engaged in the scrap
business for the purpose of the correct disposal of pyrotechnical components.
Procedure:
Store tools will be supplied to order only.
