Modification to adapter cable 12 7 420
N46, N52 and S85
Situation:
Adapter cable 12 7 420 was introduced to the dealer organisation together with DDE 5.0.
To ensure that the adapter cable can be used with the new control units (engines N52 and
S85 - market launch: end of 2004), the 58-pin multi-pin connector on the adapter cable
must be modified.
Special pliers have been developed to ensure that the plug-in contacts are not damaged
during modification.
Note:
All adapter cables with previous part number 12 7 420 that were delivered
before the end of March 2004 must be modified as described in these
instructions.
All adapter cables with the new part number 12 7 420/421 have already been
modified and have been supplied from the factory since April 2004.
Please refer to Enclosure 1.
Procedure:
Store tools will be supplied to order only.
